Quercus agrifolia
Coast Live Oak
Berkeley, CA
May, 2011
- Pruned away from house and removed some lower branches growing over driveway, impeding car parking
- Tree was thinned to allow more light and views through the branches
- Client wanted to allow this tree to eventually reach a natural mature height so some branches were left at top for directional growth that would have otherwise been removed for canopy shape
- Client was advised that as the tree grew it would eventually be out of my size range and another type of pruner would need to be found
- Because of its susceptibility to disease, this tree has only been pruned in seasons where rain and fog are not anticipated in the near future
