Citrus limon and Grewia occidentalis
Lemon and Lavender Star Flower
Oakland, CA
July, 2011
- Plants were both reduced in height to below the eave and brought back from overhanging neighbor's driveway
- These were part of a continuing line of trees bordering the driveway, which included an espaliered Pear, an espaliered Apple, and a large tree form of Osmanthus fragrans. Though the Pear and Apple stand out for being deciduous, care was taken to try to keep a sense of continuity in form and shape
- Lavender Star Flower was opened up to allow light into bedroom window, while keeping some sense of privacy
- The client was advised that both plants have an extremely high degree of reaction to pruning and regular visits were set up in order to contain growth
- Three and a half years since the original pruning, reaction growth of the Lemon is still strong but markedly improving
